Plywood scrap and an art lesson in abstract art

Last year while Li’lManD was still online learning one of his art classes was about Abstract art… We decided to “go big or go home” and with the help of our crafty pal Shay ..we created a huge Abstract art panel for his wall.

I had spent the summer redoing his bedroom, built  a really cool full-size platform bed with man cave below and a matching  bench/desk.  It was all painted out in a black, white and yellow color-scheme.. Go Team Instinct !!!

This was a spare piece of 3/4 inch ply approx.  3.5 x3.5 foot .. armed with a bunch of acrylic paint and some oil based permanent markers ..a ruler and some circular templates ….and some crazy crafters playing with abstract ideas…. this is what we came up with.  After we were done painting we added a real working clock to the final piece and inked up the edges.

I think we deserve an A++ for effort and creative craziness haha

If you want a fun group project ..this is definitely worth a shot. There are no right and wrong ways to do an abstract style project and it’s bright and crazy look is always fun for the kids.  You can add hooks, clocks, shelves or any other kind of practical hardware to make these projects functional pieces too.
