So Lil Man D has been bugging me for a 3D printer for a few years… and Sainsmart had some deals on for their anniversary. Yup I did…I finally bit the bullet and bought a 3D printer.. loved it so much I bought a second one a few weeks later. Sainsmart are the same company I got my L8 laser engravers from a few months ago. Great customer service and their user groups are full of great people to pick up tips and ideas from.
I opted for the Ender 3 V3 Plus, so far I am not regretting my decision at all. I seem to have splurged a tad on cool holographic plates and lots of fun filaments to try out. I also picked up the Nebula camera, It makes running my printers during the day so much easier since I work upstairs and my garage is my craft space. this lets me keep tabs on my printers remotely… LOVE !!
Sainsmart don’t carry the Creality Raptor Scanner, so unfortunately I had to get that elsewhere… but I am loving that too. It is definitely something you need practise to make the best of it.. but for a first test run on a head scan of Lil Man D ( ..who by the way is about as tall as me now). I can definitely see the potential and even with the hefty price tag ….it will pay for itself sooner or later.
In all honesty I bought the 3D scanner for him to learn a new skill on..and for me to make my own molds for my resin and plaster projects .. but then I discovered Luban 3D...GAME CHANGER !.
I am rusty on graphics, don’t have time to learn 3D modelling right now and the AI stuff.. just isnt up to the level I need without a lot of added time and effort. Luban 3D is fantastic.. If anyone is interested in starting up with 3D printing… I totally recommend you go check that out.
Yet again I have gotten sidetracked from my original idea… I bought Luban 3D to make boxes… and then discovered Lithophanes. OMG …. I know this is not really what they were intended for… but I have been knocking out test pieces and so far I am loving the results. With a little LED tealight, or similar these light up beautifully.
If you are interested in slicing and printing up the supersized models.. definitely check out the Luban Facebook group. These guys have some great builds and they are a wealth of tips and advice.
I met Danielle on there, she is like me…. just starting to foray into 3D printing and has an Etsy shop Luxie 3DCreations she just started with lots of fun Halloween jewelry and we seem to share a love for …the Luban3D Lithophane tool *LOVE ! . It’s great to see such a mix of styles and experience on the Luban Group. Everything from tea lights Lithophanes to life size Samurai’s. I love the big builds but I am more interested in the smaller home decor and such..so having such a wide variety of Crafters at your fingertips .. awesome sauce!
If you are interested in trying Luban, hop on over and pick up a 30 day trial license. Later on this year I will be running some giveaways and an annual license will be up for grabs.
How about we just throw a 1 month license up for grabs right here and now. This is in no way affiliated with Luban, I will be paying for this license out of my own pocket.
UPDATED… sorry, diue to some technical issues none of the commenst were being processed… fixed it ..so extended the end date 🙂
If you want a chance to pick up a free month of Luban 3D license.
