Weekend project – Lego Table with huge storage and 3D printed sort trays

This is a project I have been wanting to do for years.  Lil Man D is a huge Lego nut.. both random Lego and of course the sets.  He just had his 13th birthday ( OMG !!!  )  We finally got his trip to Legoland.. that was so much fun and then his brthday weekend we .. well me..I built him a lego table.

It is a 4x 4 framework with castor wheels to manouvre it around as needed.  It has 24 cubes with 48 storage buckets, a 2×2 foot hidden storage in the center and the top has  a center strip with 4 3D printed trays for sorting.  My K2’s are really geting a good work out lately.  Lots of fun projects in the works.

Pretty simple to build and easily done in a day if you have everything you need.

4 x 6 cube storage units from Walmart
2×4 for the framework6
Castors

And 1/2 inch ply for the top
Woodstain
Woodscrews
Drill and Screw driver
Saw if you don’t get your wood precut at the DIY store.

The sorting trays were inserted into a Michaels sign that I picked up on clearance last year and were the perfect size for the table top ( $5.. love these ! ) and the trays were designed to fit 4 perfectly. … and a few extra for additional sorting.

Not perfect, but super happy with how this turned out for another project with limited work space. Built in place in the front room .. I am really hoping it cures the problem of Lego EVERYWHERE.. but i am not holding my breathe lol.

And I got.to design and print myself a ….  cutlery container!  He may have won on this round.but I have some really cool lithophane light projects coming up.
