You can’t read your fortune at the bottom of a K Cup

My March  DT Project for  Mirtillamente had a theme of Luck or “Fortune”… so here it is.  Anyone who knows me, knows if I am awake.. there is tea on, so I made a fun wall hanger with a humorous Fortune telling tea leaf reading sentiment.  I have a stash of these really cool cutting boards from Daiso in various sizes and shapes which I love for so many different projects and crafts.  They are such a steal ….I can’t resist grabbing as many as I can every time I visit.  I am so sorry to all the other local Daiso shoppers for wiping out their entire stock each time haha.

There is a full list of supplies used below for anyone interested.  Special shout out to Lauren from Maggie’s Mystical Market Group: Crystals & More who sent me the tea bag packets in with the rocks and crystals we ordered recently for Li’l Man D’s upcoming birthday.  My Tea bags aren’t individually packages so wouldn’t have worked nearly so well haha.

The image is SoGetta Mad Hatter and I love this image, it reminds me of one of my favorite songs by Tom Petty ( see video link at end of the post )

I was lucky enough to pick up a real steal on wooden letters at my local Michaels a few months ago..almost $300 worth of wooden letters for less than $30 on clearance.  The poor girl at the register was such a sweetheart when I plonked down a clearance basket full of them.  I literally cleared out their entire stock of clearance letters by going through every clearance basket  haha.  Things like this I know Li’l Man D and I will always use, so finding those in clearance was a huge haul score for us.

The only downside to this kind of haul is you are always going to end up short on some letters and way too many of others ..and of course finding the one letter you need for a project… yes .. that is why I had over 600 wooden letters dumped on my floor haha.. I now know I do not have the letter T in that font  anymore haha.

The shelf rails were made from some really cool little picture hangers I also picked up at Daiso.  They come with a channel already carved into them for displaying postcards and such… perfect for this project and also displaying my flat panel canvas projects.

The glass plate and cups were from a thrift store adventure last weekend and worked perfectly.. such cute little cups, but definitely not big enough for a tea monster like myself haha.

If I had had more time I would have probably made the contoured cut  with my scroll saw and made it more uniform and ornate… but not everyone has access to the same tools as I do, so I chose to just carve it out with a regular hand held jigsaw, sand it down and stain it.

I hope you enjoy the project pics and additional step by step details in the gallery below.

Then it’s time to start gluing, add a chain hanger ….and VOILA…. my Mirtillamente Team Project for March is complete.

You can check out the rest of the team projects over on the Mirtillamente Blog and of course we would love to see you over on the Facebook group and all of the digital stamp images and digital papers are available in the Mirtillamente Shop too.
